I thought I’d switch things up a little and do a series of Winter related posts advising you on what I would recommend to look after different areas of your body now that the nights are drawing in and to be quite frank, it’s getting bloody freezing!
Today I’m focusing on nails; an area I think a lot of people neglect and one that is easily damaged. Personally I think I have the worst nails possible – they are brittle, they split and break (if I haven’t bitten them that is!) and could generally just do with a little more TLC.
Winter is the time to up the anti on nails because dry hands and cuticles are SO. NOT. CUTE. My five main guidelines to follow are:
1. Moisturise your hands with a thick hand cream once a day at the very least (before you go to bed is a good time!)
2. Use a cuticle cream or oil. The Bodyshop do a lovely almond one or for those of you who have By Terry Baume de Rose that also makes a fantastic cuticle treatment.
3. Try not to paint your nails too much, and give them a few days rest between each application to make sure they don’t discolour.
4. Use a strengthening nail oil/varnish every few days, and use it with a lengthening one like me if your nails just don’t grow!
5. Don’t be lax about filing your nails – keeping them short and neat will make them easier to manage and they will be less likely to flake and break.
Just to add on that I’d really recommend the Sally Hansen Nail Treatment Varnishes. She does a whole range catering to all your nail niggles. The ones I use are: Green Tea and Bamboo Strengthener and Miracle Growth.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post! If you did be sure to like it and give me a follow if you want to stay tuned for the rest of my winter series! Next up is Body Care, then we will delve into Skin Care and finally Hair Care. I hope you’ll join me for the ride!

I’ve just been looking through my little archive of photos on my hard-drive, all eagerly waiting to be turned into a post for your delectation and noticed a photo AND a draft Word document that should have been posted 3 weeks ago!! How on earth did THAT happen?
Anyway, I’ve found it now and you’ll be pleased to know I’ve also tidied up that pesky hard-drive and future post-losses should be greatly diminished now!
This post is about a couple of products from my trusty ol’ space.nk. They are two products I’ve never really tried before by my-oh-my ladies and gents, I can’t live without them now. Both cult beauty buys and absolutely worth their rather wince-inducing prices and also oh-so perrrdy.
NARS and Laura Mercier – you bring it!
These two beauties are the much sought after NARS Laguna Bronzer and the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. I’ve used both of them nearly every day since their purchase and I’m absolutely loving them. Not much more needs to be said!
I hope you enjoyed reading this post! Stay tuned for a couple of reviews this week: Plum lipstick and nail-growth tactics!

I hope this post finds you well and you survived the Monday Madness! I’m going to talk a little haircare today which I think might be the first time this has happened on my blog!
My hair is a rather dark brown with natural colour fluctuation but nothing exciting. The whole idea of the John Frieda products are that they lift your colour and enhance natural highlights etc. They do a version for coloured hair and a version for non-coloured, like mine.
The bottles are 250ml and cost £5.99 each; a little pricey but you have to remember that this is a salon brand and also more of a sophisticated hair washing system than your normal H&S Shampoo for £1.99. If you shop savvy it’s quite possible to pick up 3 for 2 and Buy One Get One Half Price offers.
The smell of the products is heavenly; somewhere between chocolate and a floral kind of scent. Like those infusion chocolate bars that Montezuma’s do! The shampoo is a clear brown gel, quite a light consistency but easy to work with. You need to hold your hands over your head as you distribute the product between them otherwise the shampoo will make a run for it down the plughole. It doesn’t strip the hair, i.e. you won’t get that “squeaky clean”, which is good because if your hair squeaks when you pull the water out; you’ve washed it too much. However, saying that, don’t go thinking this doesn’t wash your hair properly because it leaves your hair really soft and light – I get the best blow-dry results from using this combination.
The conditioner is a thick, whipped consistency, Latte coloured and with a very similar scent to the shampoo. The conditioner leaves your hair feeling uber silky, you really feel like it’s giving your hair some good nourishment! It’s not too heavy-weight so if your hair is very damaged you may need to mix it with a mask or something. However if you have fine hair, this should be fine for you and not weigh down hair too much.
All in all this is the best shampoo and conditioner I’ve discovered for years and I think I may actually become a loyal customer! Normally I’ll buy whatever is cheapest but this combination is truly delightful.

How lucky are you?! Two posts in as many days! Today’s post is just a little insight into what I’m going to be slapping on my face today. It’s a pretty standard day – go to work and then an evening in with the famalam. Therefore it’s a pretty standard look (to go with my pretty standard day, you see?), a little bit bronzy, a naked eye and a flush of pink on the lips. Lovely.
Well, well, well, what do we have here? From left to right: NARS Laguna Bronzer, YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation in B50, Soap and Glory Archery Brow Tint and Pencil, Miss Sporty “Clear” Mascara, Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-2, Clarins Instant Concealer in 02, MaxFactor Clump Defy Mascara in Black, Daniel Sandler Retexturising Face Primer SPF 20 and Max Factor Lipstick in 827 Bewitching Coral.
This is probably one of the easiest make-up looks to achieve and takes about 10 minutes to complete. I take a long time on my base as making my skin look healthy and glowy is top on my list of things to do in the morning.

Today’s post focuses on one of the great loves of my life – eyebrows. I never took them seriously before Cara came along but now there is rarely an occasion that I leave the house without thickening them up a bit. Now I’m not talking a full on Scouse-brow, that’s not something a South-East girl does! But a little bit of filling in and shaping? I’m down for that thankyou very much… And it seems I have found a winner that not only shapes and fills to perfection but comes in at a purse friendly £10.00 and in 3 colours – even blonde gals can have luscious brows! Read on ladies, and discover your brows’ soulmate…
My previous love in the brow department was a combination of Kevyn Aucoin’s The Precision Eyebrow Pencil and Wet’n’Wild’s brow duo. I found the pencil to be a little fake-looking for my liking and I rarely achieved the true shape I wanted. What’s so great about the Soap and Glory pencil is that it has a felt tip on one end – it mimics the look of hair and allows you to achieve a really natural looking thick brow. The pencil on the other end is perfect for bulking out eyebrows and making them look thicker. It’s also a waxy texture so it holds hairs in place. When using this pencil duo I don’t feel the need to finish off with powder as they are thick enough just from using the duo.
I really hope you enjoyed this post! I have some more reviews coming up.. The perfect plum lipstick (ppssssst – it’s from the drugstore!), my thoughts on a cult NARS product and my product to banish your blemishes. I hope you enjoyed your weekend and good luck and keep soldiering on to those of you joining me in the monotony of Monday!

It seems that every time I come to writing a post nowadays I always have to start it with an apology! My organisation seems to have suffered with shorter daylight hours and feeling the need to go to bed impossibly early. Don’t you think there’s something so depressing about walking out of work at 6’o’clock and it being pitch black?! Sometimes England just… Sucks!
A few things to catch up on:
– I have an exciting collab with Veronica coming up!
– I have a few videos planned and a block of 4 hours dedicated to deducing the editing software on my computer! Hurrah!
Catch-up over and I have a few questions to ask you: with Halloween fast approaching and Trick-Or-Treaters the world over preparing costumes; would you like to see a few “How-To” posts on some easy Halloween make-up? If yes – give me a request of what you’d like to see and I will make it so!
Now a few speculations for the make-up trends to hit this winter:
– With the current “Cara” love-in going on I think it’s safe to say that bold brows are here to stay (poet and I don’t know it?!). If you want to know how to create a set of brows worthy of Miss Delevinge herself check out my “How-To” video here.
– A big hit for Winter is always a bold lip look – this year it’s all about the wine shades. Don’t think this is an excuse for foundation lips – we’re talking Bordeaux not Sauvignon Blanc! For a can’t-go-wrong look dab the lipstick from bullet to finger to pout and build the colour. Correct any mistakes with a q-tip and remember to blot to keep it bang on trend.
– As we head into party season it’s time to crack out those glitter pots that hang around in the back of every gals make-up drawer. Make like Marc Jacobs and apply in a cat-eye shape for the ultimate glam factor (remember to shield your cheeks with some tissue or you’ll end up with you eye look all over your face!).
A miscellaneous post today but I hope you enjoyed reading it regardless. Keep your eyes peeled for that collaboration and if you enjoyed this post please take the time to press the “follow” button – it really does make my day!

Now get ready (I can hardly contain my excitement!!) for the first ever picture on the beauty that is Nick the Nikon.
Left to right: Revlon PhotoReady Primer, Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream in 002 Light Medium (and can I just take this moment to have a little rant about the fact that it’s called “PhotoReady” when it contains SPF and would give you awful flashback?!), Bourjois Baked Blush in 41 Healthy Mix, Bourjois Java Rice Powder (review, anyone?), Bourjois Volume Glamour Mascara in Black, Max Factor Clump Defy Waterproof Mascara in Black, Bourjois Blush Exclusif and Max Factor Lipstick in 715 Ruby Tuesday
Do let me know if there’s any of these products you’d like to see a review of.
